Do you really need an ecg on a smart watch I had a heart attack last year and now getting back to fitness so just kind of wondering is it worth it or just keep an eye on heart rate
Smart watch : Do you really need an ecg... - British Heart Fou...
Smart watch
Thanks I will just get cheep watch with heart monitor any ideas what works with iPhone please and thanks
I have my watch to thank for finally catching a coronary artery spasm on ECG and finally getting a diagnosis of Microvascular Angina. Read my profile for history. I had been passed back to GP after Coronary Angiogram in Feb with instruction to stop a lot of my meds apart from PPI and Isorobide Mononitrate and ‘consider’ referral to Gastric. A&E and MAU had never caught anything on ECG even after treating me for a suspected heart attack at Christmas. Needless to say my chest pain was getting worse, waking me up in the early hours.
Last month during a really bad episode when the sickness passed i hit ECG on my iWatch, then did it again 15 minutes later when my heart was fast but chest pain had gone. I emailed the recording to my GP as I it would then be on my NHS record, and was contacted by my GP and told to call 999 if it happened again.
I did this recently, the paramedics had a clear ECG, A&E had a clear ECG reading, Ambulatory Care had a clear ECG reading and a doctor sent me to get an X-Ray done. Walking there i got the chest pain. They hooked me up to an ECG and finally caught it. They compared the readings with the iWatch readings id taken a couple of days before. They said my iWatch had caught the same pattern. I ended up with a few doctors involved at that point and a fair bit of interest.
Its just my experience. They are not cheap, I’ve only got one as my son decided he didn't want it. But I’m grateful as I'm now on meds that have stabilised things and I don’t feel like I’m going mad or looking like a hypochondriac anymore.
Just waiting for more scans now as they want to do some kind of stress test to make sure no permanent damage and everything under control. At least thats my understanding of it.
I have an Apple Watch. Originally, I was not keen to have this ‘gimmick’ but my family wanted me to have it. I am quite nervous about my condition and picked some strange heartbeats with my ECG monitor. My cardiologist was able to reassure me that these were ok. It also has a function to call people or 999 if you fall/collapse. Yes, it’s expensive, but for me it’s been worth it. I would get one again.
Yeah i’ll be sticking with it and upgrading when I need to. x
Hi I bought a garmin, fortunately not too expensive £50 free to a good home 😅😅I hardly ever wear it, until I read this I had forgotten it was in a drawer, for me the novelty wore off quick, I never really got into it or checked how to work it properly, I just use my phone to see how far I walk, mabe I will try it again!
If you ever want to sell let me know please
I also have a smartwatch, and other than watching the time, I don't use it for anything, although I do a lot of services.
my hubby gave me an Apple watch SE last Christmas.. nearly every day for the last few months i have episodes of feeling really rotten.. heavy chest.. dizziness and feeling sick.. interesting fact is when it happens i check HR on watch and it’s spiked!.. highest rate ever is 206bpm.. so far these spikes have only lasted for about 10secs then drops to 80/90 bpm.. it doesn’t have an ecg function.. if it starts to peak for more than a few secs i’ll definitely start to get more concerned
