Hey all,

March 2020 - I contracted Covid in NYC - as I diabetic, I began shielding and ended up with Long Term Covid ! 60 weeks + now.

April 2021 - had MRI on main Bodily Organs and the following was revealed - all they believe is reversible and all they believe are post viral due to Covid .

Mild Heart Failure (myocarditis) so enlargement of the Heart.

Mild Lung Damage.

So I am now in the throws of despair and fear. Hearing that it is mild is consoling, that it hopefully can be reversed (remodelled) is also a hope.

Big issue I am meant to be heading to Cornwall in 3 weeks for a week, my OH needs this break, I also was looking forward to it.

Having had both PFzier jabs I was feeling ok with the diabetes - however chucking in the heart and lung issues - I am much more concern.

Had an ECG today, Bloods tomorrow, my heart rate is 85 (I am 52), my BP is on the normal range.

My mental health is shocked - and just can not make a judgement call !

Any positive or constructive negative thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Rob

I would echo what has been said in the initial reply. I believe that following 2 doses of the Pfzier jab immunity is raised to around 89%, so you can be confident from that respect. Use the holiday to reflect, as has been said, that you are still here and have much to look forward to, and maybe get a few good walks in as exercise will play a big part in your recovery.

Thanks to both of you for this advice - just a shock to symptom as my Covid was very mild and was in Early March 2020 - when little was known.

My mental health is not great I know that as an ex counsellor and current mindfulness coach!

Have to get over the hate of vegetables I guess😆 but thanks ! Any more thoughts will be appreciated

Diet and exercise are going to play a big part in your return to health, make no mistake. Personally I feel the benefits of getting fitter cannot be emphasised enough, both for the body and mind.

Hi Rob

Are you driving to Cornwall and if so would this be a bit of a trial for you right now? Could you holiday in a peaceful spot a little closer to home and postpone Cornwall until next year? My cure for you would be quiet walks nearby in beautiful countryside away from the hurly burly rush that life can present. Good food and lots of relaxation.

Hi Rob, welcome to the club, I would agree with the first reply. I was a very fit 65 year old then got a virus (not COVID ) on Boxing Day 2020. After great work by the NHS I was diagnosed with Severe left ventricular issues with an EF of 15-20%. Like you thought my life was over. It has taken until now to get my meds somewhere near right for me. The anxiety I suffered was terrible. Can I just say don’t let this get inside your head. It won’t do you any favours. Make sure you listen and talk to your GP, heart nurse or consultant. Do exercise take your meds and don’t linger on negative thoughts. There are lots of people out there who have come through this and share their positives on this site.I now walk everyday and play my golf 3 times a week, meditate 3 times a day which helps my anxiety. There is life after diagnosis but you do need to have a full understanding of your symptoms and the medications plus what is your best route forward with rehab.

It is extremely frightening and worrying, especially if you have other issues going on as well. Stay positive and speak to your health professionals. Cornwall sounds a good idea to me, use it to start your rehab exercise.

Stay positive.
