Nebivolol beta blockers making palpitations and heart rate more erratic.

Hi,

I am new here and wanted to ask if anyone has had any side effects with Nebivolol.

I have atrial fibrillation and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and am fitted with an ICD.

I have now been taking 5mg Nebivolol for about 10 days now after my ICD shocked me 5 times and ended up in hospital. I was on Diltiazem for a few years but discovered that this was not fully absorbing into my body, for how long I have no idea??

Since I have been on Nebivolol I am getting more palpitations, heart rate is faster , I have had the odd wave of increased heart rate (which I have been told when I had my ICD check there was no reading of VT )and am feeling really emotional and nervous which is not me at all.

Has anyone had this kind of reaction on Nebivolol or beta blockers in general as I thought the purpose was that they calmed you down and slowed down the heart am confused?

Many thanks.

Yes. Bisoprolol caused various arrythmia in me . SVT, atrial tachycardia, ectopics . Settled since been off. They are pro arrythmic in some people

As Peony says, I had pretty awful reactions to Bisoprolol about ten days after starting to take it, and it went on for 5-7 days. Awful sweats and night, very short breath, hands and feet so cold my fingernails were blue, absolutely no energy.Your body just needs time to adjust, they're a very powerful set of medication. As always, consult a doctor if you have any questions.

Hi Topaz, I'm also on 5mg Nebivolol, changed from 10mg Bisoprolol. I hav'n't had any issues with an increased heart rate but I do feel much less tired and lethargic now. I do think it can take a little while for your body to adjust to a new medication so I hope the effects you are experiencing will calm down soon
