MRI following heart attack

My husband had an mri scan on Monday following his heart attack 6 months ago. It all went smoothly but he’s been really tired since. I can’t find any info about what to expect afterwards and I’m not sure if this is normal. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi Ashleytown. I’m not a health care worker so I’m not qualified to give advice but as far as I’m aware an mri scan would not make anyone tired.

Sounds like either the aftermath of the heart attack or the heart condition getting worse.

Maybe a coincidence that this has come on after the mri.

Personally, I’d get it checked out by your GP or cardio team.

Best of luck 👍

I agree. An MRI shouldn't make you tired unless the strain of getting to the appointment did it. I've had 7 MRIs and never been tired. I'd say a GP call is in order.

Thank you. He did eventually manage to speak to the gp yesterday (after a couple of battles with the receptionist) and he told him that he thought it was stress due to the procedure. He told him to wait until next week and if there’s no improvement they’ll do blood tests. He’s still a little out of breath at times and still feels fatigued so if there’s no improvement tomorrow we’re going to call 111 - I’m not waiting over a bank holiday weekend!

We also phoned the cardiac team at our local hospital yesterday but it was an answerphone and no one has called back!
