Has anyone had a cardiac mri. I know what’s involved just wondering what they could diagnose. Mind is racing.

Claire they can diagnose virtually everything from the mri , but it does depend on what specific areas the cardiologist has requested. When I had mine the guy doing the scan said my cardiologist had asked for quite a few extra tests .

I think they can diagnose most things within the heart from a cardiac MRI. Its meant to be the gold standard cardiac test. I am having one on friday this week. I too am anxious about it both the test itself and what it may reveal.

Does the hospital you are attending have a leaflet on it. I was sent one with my appointment letter but didnt feel it gave information other than about the test itself. I rang the department and a lovely radiologist talked me through the process. However i still wasn't clear on exactly what they could find.

I looked on line and found info on the range of things the test can reveal, its very comprehensive, try googling cardiac MRI if you haven't already done so. Good luck with your test.

I had contrast cardio CT scan last year. Similar enough I believe. Without this a significant blockage in my LAD artery would not have been found. Hopefully the results give you a way forward so good luck...

I kind of wish my angiogram had shown a blockage so they could have stented and that’s it I know what happened. Up to now they just don’t know

I hope it all works well for you and hopefully the MRI gives you an answer...

I had a cardiac MRI in 2016. As meadfoot says, its a very comprehensive imaging tool - a wonder of modern medicine - and gives you the best chance of getting the answers you need. Best of all, its non-invasive and so has fewer risks or complications associated with it. I found the process not too bad at all, especially when compared to my angiogram and walked out feeling just the same as when I walked in. Results took a little while to come through as the imaging has to be reviewed by an expert which normally happens another day.

Best of luck.

Hi Claire2405 I’ve just got home from having one this morning! I was a nervous wreck but It was fine ! All the staff are so kind if your anxious let them know ! I had the one with the dye injected never even felt it going in ! Was in there about an hour but it went fast as you have a lot of breathing in and out and holding breath which left me a bit tired 😴 obviously they don’t tell you what they see so now I’ve got to wait and worry for a few more weeks good luck with yours I’m sure you’ll be fine !
