PDA is a Patent ductus arteriosus.

A baby when in the womb does not need to breathe through their lungs so there is a small duct in the unborn baby's blood circulation to bypass the lungs.

The blood is not sent to the lungs to receive oxygen but to the placenta instead

Before we are born there are 4 differences to the way the blood circulates because a baby receives the oxygen it needs through the placenta.

Many babies are born with a PDA, it is common in babies who are born early.

Most correct themselves in time a few need surgery.

I really suggest you learn to trust the 5 doctors who have tried to reassure you .

I also suggest you take the advice of the many other forum members too to find a way to manage your health anxiety that is so negatively effecting your quality of life.

Life is for living.

Good luck.

The whole point is you don't have it - you had, but it was repaired. You really need to take the advice of doctors otherwise your chronic anxiety is going to lead to a very unhappy life. I know it is difficult but you have to try and help yourself, starting one day at a time. Good luck x

Chase, you’ve already had it explained in detail several times, but I’m guessing changing your account all the time means you can’t access any replies you’ve had before under different usernames. Milkfairy’s explanation is the same as the one I gave you months and months ago. The vast majority of babies with PDA don’t need any treatment, it closes on its own - as the hole does for all babies, because all babies have this duct at birth - and that’s the end of it. If you stopped changing your profile, you could go back over all the information, support and advice you’ve already been given without asking the same things over and over.

He has 6 live alias's Charlie so he can access them whenever he wants. He asks the same things over and over in different sites too. He has had numerous tests so keeps getting the same answers. He has severe health anxiety.

Thanks for that, Hypercat. I wasn’t aware they’re all still live!

You are 22 - what a wonderful age. You have your whole life ahead of you and a huge wonderful world to explore. It sounds like your health professionals have reassured you that your heart is fine. That is excellent news. Now you need to deal with the anxiety that is weighing on you. Your GP should be be able to help by offering you counselling or CBT. There are a huge range of online resources - just search for ‘health anxiety’. You are not alone in suffering from this. And you can move on from it - just take one step at a time. Good luck and I wish you all the best.
