Losartan and angioedema

Hi, am a 74 year old woman with heart failure. Was originally on perindopril, bisoprolol and spironolactone. Over a year ago perindopril was swapped for losartan 25mgs due to persistent lip swelling. Still had over 30 episodes of lip and tongue swelling since. This March it got worse with 2 episodes of very constricted windpipe. Doctor I saw at Walk- in Clinic very shirty about it being an emergency despite my having swollen lip at the time and breathlessness. He has referred me to UCH to recommend a different drug to replace losartan . Has anyone experienced angioedema on meds and found a drug to replace them safely, Also has anyone had weight gain on losartan?

I have chronic urticaria and angioedema. It's an auto immune disease and needs absolutely nothing to trigger it. I can wake up with my eyes or lips so swollen I look like someone else but it doesn't usually close my windpipe, however I have to carry antihistamines and one steroid tablet at all times. When such swelling is caused by medication it is an allergic response and should be taken seriously but it can happen completely out of the blue and should be diagnosed by an endocrinologist. Another form of it is dermographia (skin writing) where any pressure on your skin can leave raised marks . Sufferers can write on their skin with a fingernail and the writing becomes raised. What does your GP say? You need to rule out an allergy to the medication first and if it still happens see an endocrinologist.
