I have just been reading my hospital discharge letter and the primary diagnosis has been recorded as ‘-ve nstemi’. Could anyone tell me what this means please.

The NSTEMI stands for non st elevated myocardial infarction, a less serious form of heart attack. The -ve normally stands for negative. Together they would say you didn't have a heart attack. But please don't take my word for it and if you are not sure you should ask the doctor who treated you or your GP.

Thank you for your reply. I will speak to my cardiologist next week when I go to have a stent put in.

Thank you. I wasn’t too worried about it until I read some posts on here lol. I’m just pleased to be getting it done though so that I can try to get back to fitness. Hope yours goes well too.

Don't worry about the stents; t hey will sedate you. I was most annoyed they wouldn't let me watch the screens. First time had a bruised arm, second time not even a puncture mark.

Thank you for your response. The procedure itself doesn’t worry me, it’s the after effects of having the stent. Some people seem to get pain from it.

Well I've been on here for almost 3 years and never seen anyone say they had pain; a bit of discomfort maybe but mostly nothing at all. i can't even tell I have any
