Start of my Enstresto medication today

Hello all, i hope you are well and safe.

I start my enstresto medication today replacing ramipril for heart failure.

I just wanted to ask what is its like taking them in replacement of ramipril. I hear they are good medication, I would dearly appreciate replies as to how others have coped with this drug - what i should be looking out for.

Thank you so much in advance.

I look forward to your replies

Sami

Hello Sami

I started taking Entresto shortly before Xmas after essential blood tests for kidney function - all ok. The main areas of concern for me were drop in BP and potential problems with kidney function. So started on lowest dose twice daily - 24/26 -. To begin with my BP dropped alarmingly so I spoke to GP and we juggled meds around - I now pop pills all day, but at least my BP remains normal (Isosorbide Mononitrate, Fursemide and Bisoprolol all lower BP so separate these from Entresto). It took a bit of juggling but settled. Just had results from kidney function tests and all ok so starting mid range dose this week.

Its hard to say whether there has been an improvement to HF - I have other issues which also cause symptoms - but at least I am tolerating this drug thus far. It is, apparently, excellent for those who can tolerate it.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Frances

Hello Francesw47

Thank you so much for your reply.

Yes, i start my dosage on low, i also take eplerenone, Fursemide and Bisoprolol,

Fursemide 40mg x2 tablets and bisoprolol x2 daily 2.5mg (initially it was 3.75mg) but it caused (not confirm yet) my pulse rate to go down.

Hopefully, I’ll see the effects on me, depending on how my body reacts to it.

I was diagnosed with heart failure ef 24% in sept 2020 total shock, i dont smoke and i dont drink alcohol, perfect healthy lifestyle, exercise regularly during pandemic (lol in the house and garden) and before the pandemic lockdown.

I have completely changed my lifestyle again, reduced weight from 84kg to 76kg.

Also i wanted to ask anyone in the forum, does this give you energy to do more exercise - i do my walks between 3 to 4 miles a day. Again is this sensible

Again i thank you for your reply Frances

Hello

Been just over a year since I started on Entresto and I am on the middle dose 49/51mg. I have lost 4% from EF down from 44 to 40 but that is probably within the realms of error !!!

I suppose unfortunately I haven't really improved BUT I am very pleased that that I haven't gone downhill !!! So I do reckon it is keeping me stable and more importantly so does my Cardiologist. Cardiologist took the decision to keep me at middle dose due to erratic blood pressure I would have been prepared to go to maximum dose but hey lets see how it all goes. I do take 7.5mg Bisoprolol which I cope with well !!!
