Hi all

Does anyone know what your heart rate should be while taking beta blockers resting and generally moving around doing housework? Thanks

A little bit lower than whatever 'your' normal is. It really is impossible to say, as everyones varies so much.

For example, my resting is ~50, moving around ~70's, running/cycling ~150's

Should have said that 'text book' normal resting range is ~60 to ~100, if it is consistently higher you should speak to your GP, especially if you have symptoms. If it is lower (within reason) and you have no symptoms it is generally fine, but worth mentioning to GP so they are aware.

Thanks Gaz-chops it’s 69-79 resting moving around doing housework in the 90s my beta blockers have just been increased to 2 25mg in the morning and one in the evening.

Those numbers seem reasonable, do you know what your resting HR was before you went on Beta Blockers? As a 'guide' beta blockers lower resting HR by ~10.

If you are getting any symptoms you should contact your GP/Cardiologist?

Ok thanks for that information, unfortunately I don’t know what it was. Will be having a telephone call with GP next week. Thanks.

I think that's an individual thing, the right rate for you might not be the same as someone else. Some people are fine with a really low rate but I'm not, I need mine to be no lower that 62 so I have a pacemaker to make sure it doesn't happen.
