Iphone 12 Warning
Hi C&C. This applies to all mobiles. I was told when I got my ICD 3 years ago not to carry my phone in a left breast pocket. xx
I was told not to put any wi-fi device near the pacemaker site.
I work with electron microscopes which have lenses made from large electromagnets (bigger than any in a mobile phone or charger), but my pacemaker has never been affected. When my pacemaker was fitted, I specifically asked about this and was assured by the electrophysiologist that even if it was affected, my Medtronic pacemaker would switch into "safe" mode and pace at 85 bpm until the magnetic field was removed. Like mine, many modern pacemakers are designed to withstand an MRI scan.Because of this, I am quite happy to put my phone in my top pocket, but everyone has to decide for themselves what they want to do.
Maybe one day, they will invent a PM that does not react to magnetic fields and we will be able to have remote battery recharging rather than having a new PM each time the battery goes flat.
