Meds

Maybe it’s not one in particular but one if not more of my meds makes me feel like I’ve hit by a bus.

Some days are easier than others but I have started to realise it’s more to do with my mental attitude on that day of how well I’m going to deal with it.

I am on Ramapril, atorvastatin, rivvaroxiban, eplerenone, and Clopidogrel. I’ve been to the GP twice and emailed the cardiologist and they have told me to stay on everything.

It’s very frustrating! And it’s always a Monday that sparks these thoughts 🤔

Since I left hospital after my HA. Like many others on here I’ve never had high BP and my heart rate has always been mid 40’s resting.

I obviously don’t want to put myself in danger by stop taking meds, but it doesn’t look like I will have much of a life if this is it forever.. some days are a real grind

Since July, my EF is 60% now, it was 30 after my HA.

Yeah I appreciate it needs time, the only concerning thing is my symptoms are getting worse not easing as would be expected with time.

I haven’t really been given a reason, I have been told that it’s normal to be on this cocktail after a HA.

I understand the anti platelets and anti coagulants as the hole puts me at risk of it happening again or stroke. I have had increased liver enzymes since I have been on the meds and a lot of The drugs I am on cause that to.

Hi

I feel your pain having experienced similar, it can and will improve with a little trial and error over time.

I presume your GP has completed all the relevant 'mot' blood tests following being prescribed these medications, in particular your CK levels that can be effected by your atorvastatin medication. Worth asking going by my experience with this particular medication.

Hi

Yes I have had a blood test pretty much once a month. I look forward to

Finding the right balance. I was hoping that it may become I can control with diet and exercise. Ironically they almost wouldn’t let me out after my TOE 2 weeks ago because my BP was to low. I had to walk around the ward for 10 mins to get it above 100.

It is highly unlikely to be the Clopidigrel. I know it affects people differently but im on it and don't notice it at all. My mum's also on it and she doesn't notice it.

I'm also on a statin. Some people find they don't notice they're on them. I ,on the other hand, seem to be intolerant to them. I'm just tolerating 5mg Rosuvastatin every other day. I feel twitchy and very weak on the days I take it. No idea why. It just doesn't like me. 🤦🏼‍♀️ My mum on the other hand doesn't know she's taking them ,even at a higher dose.

It is possible it is the beta blocker but I'd speak to your gp and stress that something is not right. It took me going to A&E for them to fully investigate. I'm not suggesting do that unless you're severely unwell obviously but if you feel you're not being heard by one doctor ,see another. Leave a message on your Cardiology dept answer machine saying it is important that someone gets back to you. If possible ask to speak to the Cardiologists secretary and voice your concerns.

It could be something or it could be nothing but either way you have a right to know.

Could you do a timeline of when you started each med and when each side effect happened.

My Cardiologist allowed me to come off certain ones at a time to see which was causing the issue and then adjusted it all.

I hope you get some answers.

Also..if you can purchase a BP machine and keep a record of morning and evening BP and your pulse ,that may show a pattern but it's helpful for the doctor to see.

Thanks for the advice Sleesa 👍

I have a telephone appointment with my GP on Thursday and I am going to be more insistent that something is done.

I am not on a beta blocker, they took me off it in the hospital because my BP was 80/50. I now sit at about 110/60 but I think that’s Ramapril and not my natural level.

I have the BP machine, and the watch that does everything including the ECG.. people could swing by my house and get a check up with the amount of gear I have bought since my HA 😂

I am on the same medication as you, and most days feel dreadful, no interest or energy in life, plus aches and pains.

The virus scenario is not helping, and may be contributing more than I realize, and all GP suggests is 8 paracetemol a day.

Sometimes think of stopping the meds, but I know it would be foolish.

I tend to feel better late evening.

Glad it’s not just me Svenson

I seem to get better mid afternoon but i only take Elperenone and Clopidigrel in the morning the rest after dinner so I sleep through the worst of it.

I have recently started taking CoQ10 supplements and they made a big difference to my energy levels. Before I'd get a massive dip in the afternoons and it was hard to keep going. But now I'm much better.
