Anxiety re angina

Husband aged 75, recently diagnosed with angina and is now scared of activities including walking as this brought on his first of 3 attacks. Also not clear about having levels of medication checked - can monitor blood pressure ourselves. As to lifestyle, prior to attacks - not overweight, daily walking, keen gardener, daily glass of red wine, eating lean meats and some veg but not keen on fruit and veg, gave up smoking 25 years ago.

Won’t openly discuss things with me as has this attitude it is a sign of weakness needing to open up.

Needs to be checked to find what’s causing the Angina. Maybe a blockage that can be sorted. Has he been scanned.

He has had a heart scan but told nothing. He is down for angiogram but who knows what the wait for that will be. He was kept in hospital overnight but mainly blood tests and blood pressure monitoring. He got the heart scan just as he was being discharged as a slot became available. There were some mutterings about levels of something being borderline.

The angiogram is the answer. I was lucky and had it done privately and a triple bypass one week later on the NHS as my artery was 90% blocked. Just take it easy. If he feels pain then stop and rest and don’t overdo anything. The angiogram will reveal all and with treatment full health can be returned. Keep pestering the doctors. Chances is he will be fine if he takes It easy. Angina is very common my mother lived with it all her life.

My friend had her angiogram nearly 2 years ago and has had 4 consultant appointments cancelled and is still no wiser. My brother waited 15 months for his angiogram and waiting almost 18 months for a special MRI scan as he has a pacemaker or similar fitted. It looks as though private one costs about £2000 at our local private facility. Our GP is useless. It has taken me nearly 5 years to finally get my hip replaced.
