In May, what I call a mild heart attack, no pain just heartburn. Two stents put in. I ride my bike every two to three days, 5kms to 15kms with no problem. Last week came home from 10kms ride and didn’t feel good. Took heartbeat, it was 180 as opposed to 65. Ambulance called and heartbeat dropped down. After 8hrs in hospital with ekg and blood tests they let me go home. All good so far. I believe it was caused by dehydration as on the day two strong coffees before ride. I never used to drink much water now a lot. Any conclusions?

180 beats a minute after bike ride
Drinking coffee before a ride not a good idea, usually after the ride is OK.
I always take a bottle of water on any cycle ride I do. I'm not sure a 180 beats is a big problem its how fast it returns to normal after exercise that matters.
I also think coffee before exercise, probably not a good idea. Your heartbeat was probably 100 before you even got on the bike. I live with chronic dehydration so I can tell you first hand, sounds like the probable cause. Next time try water or Gatorade before biking. Keeps me hydrated if I can just remember to do it.Also, if you're saying your pulse is usually 65 after a bike ride, I'd be more concerned with that than 180. I'm also around 180 after exercise, but it comes down to 60's fairly quick. Just make sure you're hydrating before and after. Sounds like you'll be fine. Good Luck!
Not sure what my heartbeat is right after the ride but my average is around 67. I was told to drink 4 times 500 mls a day
That sounds about right with the fluid intake if you're talking about everyday average without exercising. If you're biking, you need to increase that. Can't say by how much because I don't know your stature. I'm 5'5 female at about 126 lbs and in the summer, with a little exercise I drink about 12 to 15 8 ounce cups. Winter I probably don't drink the 64 ounces I should. A great hydrator, if you can tolerate it, is milk. Keeps you hydrated longer than most beverages.Off topic....your budgie looks similar to mine and his name is "Chime". Hence my name. Well, take care and I hope everything works out well for you as I'm sure it will. Take Care!
