Hello I am curious can anyone here tell me how the cardiologist can tell the difference between an episode of tachycardia that is only for a few seconds as opposed to just doing light activities which increases your heart rate ? Or light exercise? I had an episode where my heartrate got to 138.
It was labeled as tachycardia..but i was push mowing. Basically I just want to know how they can tell an actual episode of tachycardia from what would naturally increase your heart rhythm?
It is a bit more complex than HR (heart rate) alone involving looking at signals from the various heart nodes and the time to return to a your normal HR. You should keep a diary. I was asked to keep one when I had a 24 hour BP monitor. Just simple like 10:30 - 11:30, drove from Radlett to Gatwick. This is useful for interpretation.
They should have given you a sheet to complete. The sheet should be filled in every time you do something out of the norm such as mowing the lawn, exercise etc. You record the time and period, then they exclude it out of normal activity.
Obviously my cardiologist isnt worth a crap. When I went in for my results he gave me 15 minutes I barely even had time to ask a question before he was giving me a prescription and pushing me out the door.
