I'm new to this so am looking for any help advice and guidance as I have a few questions that I would like answers to asap. I recently had a cardiac episode and was prescribed bisoprolol by the cardiac team at the hospital. My doctor who referred me is aware but due to the current situation regarding appointments I've only just got an appointment tomorrow.
I am feeling overwhelmed as it was totally out of the blue and I'm having problems processing it all. My question is I'm due to take my weekly dose of methotrexate but I've seen some research to say its not a good mix. Haven't managed to get through to the surgery or pharmacy yet- does anyone know
Thanks in anticipation

Taking bisoprolol and methotrexate together are not contraindicated according to the BNF. Assuming you told cardiology/A&E about your other meds at the time, they would also have taken that into account when deciding which medication would be appropriate. There is a suggestion that the two together *may* result in the effects of bisoprolol lasting longer, but my understanding is that this is mostly hypothetical. You could try asking over at the NRAS forum if you want further reassurance, as you may find others on there taking mtx with a beta blocker, but Inwould be comfortable to take the two. I used to take bisoprolol but my arthritis was undiagnosed at that time: I now take mtx for PsA with a calcium channel blocker for arrhythmia/ectopics.
Thank you so much for your reply. Much appreciated. Am having trouble processing this new event in the current climate -so many questions etc. I'm sure this site will help though
