Statins n stents

As other members experienced anxiety and depression after MI stents , had heart attack 6 years ago and feel it’s totally ruined my life . The anxiety attacks are real and totally debilitating and the symptoms mimic heart attack to the letter , I’ve wrap myself in cotton wool I feel , if I do anything physical out of the ordinary I think I get angina or is it anxiety or or could be acid reflux or IBS .

Hi ! Thanks for your advice , I did initially try cardio rehab but it made me feel worse, I had CBT both one to one and in a group and was on antidepressants for a couple of years .im not as bad but I still get anxiety which I think is caused by the acid reflux and ibs .

Hi Spitfire, I think I get where you are coming from and you have done so well!! 6 years on wow, great going so you are doing some things right definitely. Effects on stomach and colon from the meds can cause great anxiety because you wonder is it your heart, all this discomfort. That's been a problem to me and still is and I didn't have that problem before the heart event and stents. I had great energy, took CoQ10 and I swore it gave me a burst of energy. Now I can't even take it, anything I try to add that can help me adds more problems to the digestive system and I can end up in more aches, pain and discomfort. But I do what I can. Yesterday I drove to nearby park to bring my dog for a walk and I had forgot my phone. The anxiety of that because it brought back the memory of having the heavy pain last year when I was out walking and I nearly felt to come back and give up on the walk but I didn't. My car was there, I wasn't far from home so I brought doggie for his walk and enjoyed the beauty of the park and I was fine! Just don't like to come out without that phone so more careful next time to make sure I have it. They are anxieties I didn't have before either so life does change, we just have to change along with it. Take care. Heather

Yea, I have never had an heart attack, chest pains, yes and have been in the presence of others who have and what you say replicates their opinion too. But one thing told to me by my doctor was that the heart is a muscle, a very powerful muscle too and survives to act as such. I think he meant muscles need to exercise and not meant to waste away. The philosophy is there in the sentence, but mostly so in muscle and exercise. Good Luck.
