A new path - 5 weeks after Aortic Valve and Root Op

Hello again,

I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a fraud having read some of the recent posts on hear (Sootycat - so sorry to read about your setback and hope improving now))

Hopefully my experience will be encouraging to those waiting for/just found they need Aortic Valve replacement with or without aorta 'maintenance'.

My 5th week post OHS has seen me:

- extending walk to >40 mins (I did get a little lost!)

- making a gentle 30 min bike ride with my daughter

- beginning to write out questions for surgeon at upcoming checkpoint (although I've not yet got appointment);

- observe incision almost healed (just top & bottom 'holes' not quite there')

- the 'thumping' heart beat has become less noticeable.

- sense of smell is still minimal (although it wasn't great beforehand).

- (unsurprisingly) continue to wait for response from critical illness claim.

wishing you all the best

Steve

Brilliant news Steve. Don't worry about "getting lost". I am known for using satnav to get round my own town!!!! 🙄

Great news, Steve. You're not a fraud, you've been through major surgery, which is more than I have. xx
