Hi Rainbow 1961

I can exercise and before the lockdown I was able to swim for 1 hour. I wear a wet suit to keep warm.

When I first started to exercise after my diagnosis of vasospastic angina all I could manage was 10 lengths of the pool and about 10 minutes on a bike.

My Cardiologist is very keen for me to exercise as it is a really important way of improving the function of the endothelium which is responsible for coronary vasospasms.

I suggest you talk to the Cardiac Rehab team. Also check with your Cardiologist that it's okay to exercise.

Keep an exercise log start off slowly, if you have any pain stop.

I find if I do too much I get more chest pain at rest. I am also careful not to raise my heart rate up too fast. I take a long time to warm up and then cool down very slowly.

In my family there are several of us with coronary artery spasms. We don't have spasms while exercising but they kick in within 24 hours. I would check with your cardiologist first, start off gently then give it a couple of days before doing more
