I managed to get in touch with my cardiac rehab centre a couple of days ago. (The Ulster Hospital). It may not be the same for you, but I was told they’re aiming for end of August. However, resources have been slashed and they have a large backlog☹️☹️
hi. i was admitted to hospital last month. i met one of the rehab nurses when there and she thought it would be probably be next year🤷♂️
If you can contact one of the rehab team, they may be willing to let you do the BHF exercises, the lowest level, at home. They are on U Tube. That’s what I’m doing. I had a minimally invasive op to repair My mitral valve in November but, with an initial delay and then lockdown, I only spoke to them about 3 weeks ago and was not aware how unfit I’d got, despite walking every day. So don’t be fooled that the exercises are too easy, they’re not, and start with the chair exercise. Do not however attempt them without checking in with the post cardio team first. Another tip is to put them on the TV screen if you can, which makes it much easier to see exactly what you have to do. I have a Chromecast, which means you can link a smartphone or I pad to the screen, if you not got a TV with U Tube built in. Hope this helps. All the best for your recovery.

Just a thought: if you do decide to do exercises by yourself, I suggest you buy a blood pressure machine and take and record your blood pressure and pulse rate both before and after doing any exercise. Ask what blood pressure/pulse would be seen as too high. Always have your GTN spray handy too. Exercise is important, I agree, but for us cardiac patients, I suggest we need guidance from medical professionals.
It is a significant decision you would be taking if you decided to 'go it alone' and so I would be tempted to talk to a medic who knows your case to discuss what you plan to do and ask if they can see any issues. Pre-covid, when I needed to get exercising, they wouldn't let me start at all until certain pains had gone. Their caution was spot on. I saw doing exercises as a sign I was recovering, a sort of talisman, but it turned out that it wouldn't have been a good idea. I needed longer in the initial recovery phase. Now I do phase 4 exercises 2-3 times a week on Zoom.
Good luck in keeping fit

I had my `heart episode` in April. I have been receiving telephone calls from my cardiac rehab team regularly. I asked him the same question yesterday, and was surprised when he said that I probably will not have any. The sheer volume of people having heart problems since mine in April means that they are only seeing the newer patients. I understand that everyone is different and has different needs. I am sure that each area has their own take on this. I am just using my exercise bike and going for walks with no problems, he was happy with that.
Hi Siity. Croydon Rehab are going to start seeing people again from Monday. However, this is effectively just the assessment, where they will be able to see what the patient can do, and point them towards some online and on paper exercises. Because of the need to clean everything between each patient, they only have the facilities to see 5 people a day! They are talking about MAYBE starting classes (but no more than 5 at a time rather than the usual 12-15) later this year, but this is obviously dependent on both Covid levels and government advice! (I now (then) volunteer for them, hence my insider information )
I suggest you find out from the hospital what the rehab contact details are, and give them a call.
Brilliant thank you for that I will call Monday and see what I can find out thank you
