Morning folks,Well after posting last week about being anxious of getting out and about.I have took a bigger leap than I intended.Going to the coast on an overnight trip today. Its only about hr drive from home.Booked hotel.Reckoned this might be safest time to get out in about, since in Scotland our R rate is doing well. Also should there be a second wave then it's back in hiding again.Dont get me wrong I'm more anxious than excited, but my stuborness wins over anxiety in getting back to normality. At end of the day Stuborness is what got me better quickly with my heart failure. Also since hotel just opened up yesterday and it only has 12 rooms it's not as if it will be busy.Oh and we got a suite reckon that swung it.Have a super weekend folks. As Prince said.IM GONNA PARTY LIKE ITS 1999

Enjoy! (and remember to keep up a strict hygiene routine:) )

Then on your return home please update - let us know what your experience was. Start to finish what it was like - traffic to and from, conditions at the lodging and if the weather allowed a walk along the coast, everything. I'm also in Scotland (NE) and am trying to convince my husband we should give an overnighter a go.

Strict hygiene is a breeze for me ive always been overly obsessed with cleanliness. Its Largs we are going to,Our Daughter and young Grandson coming also this is also first time ive cuddled them so celebrating by going away together.Hotel asked for my Daughters contact details for the track and trace.Had to book a time for breakfast and dinner over the phone as they have took a lot of tables out to maintain distance. As i said since hotels just opened a day or so ago they wont have had many folk using the room yet.Same goes for eating there.I always was a social butterfly so trying to ease back into it.I will let you know how it goes especially on a Glasgow Fair Friday.Stay safe and hopefully book a wee overnighter x

Hi, ahk59,

Have a lovely weekend, use to love an ice cream when visiting! As you say Glasgow Fair Friday, hopefully not too busy.

Sounds like the hotel is making sure everyone will be safe.

Again enjoy

Best wishes Pauline

Hi Sunnie2day

Well all my anxiety went as soon as i got to hotel. They had a large machine at the door

where you stood i front off to get a temp reading. All staff wore masks, room was spotless although i wiped down all hard surfaces with anti-bac.Kept well apart at meal times, starnge thing was the food except for soup was served in cardboard box, heard a lot of complaints about this.I just saw it as another safety measure so was grateful.although hotel took our details you had to then give it again in the restaurant again safety measure.TV remote was covered with a plastic bag. Also had a one way system in place to get to rooms. All in all it put me at ease to give it another go at going out.Hope this has put you at ease a bit also.

Thank-you, and yes, your update is definitely encouraging! A cardboard soup bowl is a bit on the strange side but then again the restaurant may have thought as you (and I) did, I'd be fine with my soup arriving to the table that way if it meant even more security in place.

It sounds as though you all had a restful happy time:)

Aww thats very kind of you.You take that walk by the sea,go the whole hog and splash in it.Grab an ice cream, and enjoy life,we have all made it this far, too many have not been so lucky. So we need to try and put fear aside even for a day or so and put enjoyment in its place.x
