At what point does the difference between ones systolic and diastolic BP become a possible cause for concern? and is 60 diastolic too low?

Hi (-:

Aged 60 I have been taking BP meds 18 years. Currently 225 mg Irbesartan. Stented 2014 Moderate calcification in circulatory system and heart valves. In the last year lost BMI of 29 to 25, a good diet and exercise really do work. My BP also down now, typically 125/60 fear maybe too low regards the bottom number?, although finally the top number now ideal. I ask as experiencing a general lack of energy, and a little dizzy on occasion.

I am taking Entresto for heart failure and my Systolic BP is always less than 60 and my doctor is very happy with this.

From an EF of 35 I have moved to preserved EF of 50 in one year due to use of Entresto.

This is all because of keeping systolic bp below 60

Interesting. Could you tell us what your diastolic BP is please. 60/30 would sound awfully low to me.

Hi Raylpa

It doesn't look like I can send an attachment on here but I use a chart I found using a google search 'blood pressure chart'. It shows both systolic and diastolic levels and is a good guide. The real issue with BP is that the ideal changes as you age so better to speak to your gp over the phone to make sure. My BP is on average 110/75 which apparently is ideal but I have been very pragmatic about taking my BP. It is best to pick a week from every month and measure at the same time of day over that week. It can vary so much that you are better to take an average over that time unless there are dramatic changes.

My BP is usually 120/60. I have bradycardia which my cardiologist explained will lower the diastolic BP. He explained that if my heart failed to beat then BP would drop to zero. That the longer the time within beats the lower diastolic will go. In my case he said that my diastolic BP was entirely consistent with my heart rate.

This may not be relevant in your case but it reassured me.
