Stopping Atorvastatin

Can you get withdrawal symptoms with Atorvastatin?

On my Cardiologists suggestion, I’m experimenting with some of my meds to see if it helps tiredness etc. Stopped Atorvastatin 80mg on Monday, and getting all sorts of miserable aches, increased tiredness - the sort of things people complain of when they start taking it.

Is it just coincidence?

Hi there, like you I became extremely tired when on 80mg Atorvastatin. I stopped, but didn’t get any of the withdrawal effects you mention. I then started on 20mg simvistatin, upping the dose by 20mg until I reached 80mg and I am fine on that.

Thanks. I don’t know that my previous tiredness is down to the Atorvastatin though. I’m supposed to stop it and see if things improve- but at the moment they seem to be worse, and it’s a long term drug that I shouldn’t miss.

I’m on a lot of other meds. I’m working through them one at a time trying to work out which is helping most, and which is causing more problems than it helps. So far everything helps!

Could be blood pressure meds. My GP recently prescribed inhalers for me for asthma. Because of this she told me to stop taking Bisoprolol. I have much more energy now.
