I'm on bisoprolol for ectopics. Mine have lessened but are still there. Been on bisoprolol for about a year now. Just had my dose increased to 7.5mg.
Thank you for replying, i hate these beats they ruin your life don't they. Some days just a few every hour other days continuous and worse at night. I find i think about them continuously even when i don't have them as i am waiting for them to start again, convinced there is something terminally wrong with me even though Doctor insist they wont hurt me! I am praying these work for me, i hate taking pills but have got to the point where i don't care anymore. Hope your new dose work for you.
I started bisoprolol 3 days ago after being on propranolol for the last 3 mths after suddenly waking up with a ridiculous amount of ectopic beats. Since Monday thy have come back with full force. I do t think I ever had them this bad when they started. It’s terrifying.
Hi I have now been on them for 3 months and my ectopic beats have improved considerably. I am hoping next year i may try and reduce dosage but they are horrible and very frightening. Stick with it hopefully they should help. My doctor told me nobody has died from ectopic beats!
I am newly diagnosed and on 2.5mg of Bisoprolol. Some days are better than others for me. Fingers crossed that yours will ease up soon. x
I am withdrawing from Bisoprolol because they did t help my palpitations but what has helped is magnesium citrate 300mgs a day. They take a couple of weeks to get into your system but help tremendously.
Look at Sanjay Gupter a York cardiologist on you tube and listen to what he says about taking magnesium and also ectopic and palpitation. He is excellent and very reassuring
Mine stopped pretty quickly on 1.25 mg, but upped it to 2.5 mg to better control my BP. I just get the odd one or two a day now. It has worked really well for me - good luck!
I was given 2.5 mg Bisoprolol for heart failure but it made no difference to my palpitations and frequent ectopic beats. Previous to diagnosis various doctors dismissed the palpitations as anxiety and the ectopic beats as natural in over 50s. Since my ICD/pace maker in November last year, I have been on 5 mg bisoprolol twice a day and I am in the same situation. I am writing this at 5.30 am as I was woken by both at 1.30 am. They usually wake me up. The technician who checked my ICD two weeks ago said he could see the ectopic beats on the data and that he got them as well and he was in his 40s. Again he said nothing to worry about.
I also take 300 mg of magnesium every day as read it was good for overcoming anxiety. I know my mother used to get them and so does my younger sister now.
Thank you all for your comments they are reassuring. I just keep worrying about them which probably doesn't help. I do notice if i am occupied i don't seem to have them but as soon as i acknowledge that fact they starts again. My mother was diagnosed with AFIB late in life and i know that can be hereditary, but i don't ever remember her complaining about them like i do!! My Doctor assures me i don't have AFIB but i am still worried i do. I know the feeling of being awake at night .....all night worrying and obsessing.
Hi, I have ectopic beats as well and was on bisoprolol for a couple of months and found they made beats more painful. So I came off them again. Tried various other tablets which also did not really make a difference for me. Over time I got used to them being there. Hope you have better luck! I also sleep with 3 pillows as the beats are quite painful when I first lay down. Would suggest to speak to your GP if you have any doubt that Tablets are not helping. All the best!
