My question is that for the last few months I have been waking up during the night with a thumping in the left side off my rib cage. It ranges from a couple of thumps to around ten, it causes my wife to wake also. Four year ago I had a heart attack and two stents fitted then six month later an ICD. Generally I’m fit and healthy and spend an hour on an elliptical trainer every morning. Any idea what could be causing this.
Thanks

Could I respectfully suggest that you check this phenomenon out with your own medical specialist? It is rather risky to get input from laypeople on here, I would have thought!
I have a telephone number for my specialist team and I phoned them regarding my own flutter/ atrial fibrillation prior to the lockdown and they phoned back within a day and suggested I go back on the waiting list for an operation. In your case, if you have mayoclinic.org/tests-proced...
or something similar, I would imagine you have your own specialist team's contact details?
