Stopped iron tablets and poo still black?

My blood tests showed that my iron was at 15 and I needed iron tablets..... I was given a high dose in December and was told to have blood tests in a month , I kept asking for tests each month since but was refused and told to stay on tablets. Finally had a blood test was done last week and it measured at over 200 which is apparently high so I have been told to stop taking them. Now a week later my poo is still black is this normal? How long does it take for it to get back to normal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you x
