Anxiety and angina

I hope you all are keeping well and safe with all this coronavirus outbreak and people panic buying anything and everything.

On Friday morning I went shopping with my daughter, it was an absolute nightmare!! We hadn't even got to the top of the first isle when I had the worst anxiety attack I've ever had. My whole body was shaking uncontrollably. It took a while for me to continue round the shop. My problem is, ever since this attack my heart has felt a little achy (something I've never experienced before). I wandered if anyone else has experienced this? I'm not even sure if I should contact my gp tomorrow.

Have you actually been diagnosed with Angina? You would soon know if you'd had an Angina attack. And if you have angina you would have been given a spray GTN. that i carry everywhere with me

Yes I was diagnosed about 2yrs ago and I too have a gtn spray that I carry everywhere with me. I've had about 6 attacks, 1 of those I ended up in hospital for a couple of days. This doesn't feel like an attack, its more like a dull ache that's there nearly there all the time!!

I would contact your GP tomorrow, or 111 or even 999 of it worsens. Prior to my bypass I had fairly frequent angina attacks. Only one needed paramedics in attendance and that was stress related. It was caused by an individual becoming unnecessarily aggressive and causing an argument. Unlike exercise related angina where rest usually cures it stress needs something more. Let us know how you get on.

It must have been very scary for you. Unfortunately anxiety and heart problems seem to go hand in hand and we are living in very scary times. To get to the shop and find that there is little to buy when you have a child to feed must have been awful. Please don't suffer alone. There are charities like CALM that can help with anxiety and your GP IS a good place to start. I have to say that the thing that worries me most is that I won't be able to leave the house once this is all over due to mental anguish. Be safe and I hope that you manage to talk to someone who can help.
