After 7 days on blood pressure meds got it checked this morning at Doctors as I had an appointment today he called first then as I live a few doors away he said come down will check it. I was anxious as usual but he took it twice and big improvement from last Friday. He asked if I had a blood pressure monitor at home we have an old wrist one I will have to get one. I would like to know where do you take it to get it collaborated as you are advised every two years so it is accurate. Is Omeron the best too. Buy

I use an Omron as it seemed to be the most highly recommended, it appears well made and has been completely reliable over the past 15 months. When I was on the Cardio Rehab course I took it in and calibrated it against the readings taken by the nurse, it proved to be very accurate.

Before each of my regular check-ups, my GP now gives me a form to record at home blood pressure readings, morning and afternoon across seven days. He says he's encouraging all his patients with decent test equipment to follow this protocol as, besides saving time at the surgery, it's inherently more accurate than a single reading taken with the risk of "white coat syndrome".

I'd be really interested in an answer to that one as well (calibration that is). I have never found anywhere to recalibrate these. I know its not at all green but these devices are now so cheap, its likely to be cheaper to buy a new one every two years than get an old one recalibrated - awful though that is. As for make, they are all much of a muchness. Mine happens to be an Omron but that was only because it was what was available at the time.

YesI agree it’s cheaper to replace every two years. Will get the Omron one I think

Have had a Omron for 20 years, bought their a wrist one 3 years ago didn’t like it wasn’t very accurate bought another Omron but went back to a cuff one. That’s been fine.
