Hello and welcome to the forum! The NHS guidines are that if you have an angina attack:

Stop what you're doing and rest.

Use your GTN medicine.

Take another dose after 5 minutes if the first one doesn't help.

Call 999 for an ambulance if you still have symptoms 5 minutes after taking the second dose.

If the attacks are fairly frequent I would suggest you talk to your GP. An anti-anginal drug, like Isorbide Mononitrate or Diltiazem, might be more appropriate. The BHF nurses could also advise you but they are now out of the office till Monday.

Hi. what type of pains are you experiencing? where abouts?

My own experience (had HA 17th Feb - angioplasty and 2 stents) was that i had a fair bit of isolated pain (as in i could pretty much pin point where it was - centre of chest behind sternum and towards left nipple - was like a numbness and tightness. it didn’t radiate out.

also had warming sensations

i used GTn 7/8 times in first 2 weeks!

i was advised this is common and if pain is isolated then unlikely to be heart pains.

of course we are all different so if you are in any doubt at all, then call 999 and get seen again.

i did this twice and A&E were superb. (this is how i discovered that my heart was ok and pain wasnt coming from my heart) if you have a blood test aka them to let you know what your troponin leves are. this (apparently) is a good indicator. if falling then it’s good 👍

mine was around 1000 when had HA and after 12 days it was 89 and last time i was in - 10 days ago, it was down to 10.

touch wood ! i’ve had very little pains or niggles for past 7 days (the odd small sensations) and i’m feeling physically and mentally much better than I did 1/2 weeks ago. i’ve not used GTn for over 2 weeks now.

good luck and all the best 😃

I didn’t have stent as mine was a branch off a main artery that was effected. Am on loads of medication. My pain is in the middle of my chest only. Sometimes I think it could be stress but don’t know. Spray does take pain away. I am hoping with time that my pain will go away like yours. Thanks for your advice.
