Very interesting read - every one of us with valve issues (I have 'trivial' scarring on my aortic valve as one consequence of having rheumatic heart syndrome 50+years) including having had replacements should read this article.

Thanks Sunnie2day, just read the article interesting reading as you say, I have a tissue replacement aortic valve. So good to read.

If I'd had a replacement I'd find the article rather reassuring - I loved the part saying having had the replacement usually means a normal immune system! If my scarring ever progresses to the point of the cardiologist saying 'It's time', I'm going to remind myself it's got all sorts of bonus benefits like a normal immune system:)

When you had yours were you told it would likely mean a return to a normal immune system status?

No, but then I never asked!

Have myself and my husband on Actimel every morning for the past few years hoping it would help boost our immune system! Don’t know if it’s worked but we have had no colds in the last few years and like you we live in Scotland! We do have the flu jag though. So probably that!!
