Hi to everyone waiting finally over going in tomorrow for surgery on Tuesday Aorta valve repair and double or triple bypass so trying to chill a bit and see people it’s a very very emotional time but at least it’s happening so 👍I’ll write tomoz when in hospital 💙👍
Day b4 hospital : Hi to everyone... - British Heart Fou...
Day b4 hospital
I am sure you will be fine
Staff are very good at making you feel relaxed
Good Luck
Treat yourself to a coffee and cake either this afternoon or on your way in tomorrow! Hospital issue is drinkable but that's about it.
Leave yourself plenty of time. It is better to be early than late and stressed. The sheer professionalism will relax you once you get in the system. It felt quite busy to me with bloods, swabs, ECG, echo, and chest X-ray. I found I slept quite well without the knock out tablets.
Good luck and hopefully no last minute cancellation.
👍
Hi iw51.
All the very best to you. Keep us posted when you're up and about after the operation.
I found the M and S in the hospital complex did rather nice coffee so I was up and down getting my hubby stuff to keep his mind off his quad bypass!
I found getting Sky Sports on his hospital TV (cost a fortune!!) was well worth it.

Hi, wishing you the best of luck, I am sure you will be fine.
I too have been through this and know it’s a scary place to be. Just remember the surgeon and staff do this as their day job!
Let us know how you go, will be thinking of you. Pauline
I wish you good luck tomorrow and in your recovery. I too had a multiple bypass a year ago and the surgery is no walk in the park, but it is key to saving your life. It is increasingly a routine, but significant procedure. Cardio docs and nurses are amazing folks.
The recovery after the first few days surprisingly involves little real pain. Discomfort and occasional depression are the worst part of the slow path to returning to a normal life, according to others I've talked to and certainly my own experience. Be patient, follow doc's advice, do cardio rehab, eat healthy and exercise. It does get better!
Thinking of you. Stay positive. Sending lots of positive thoughts. Take care. Zena x
I had same op 15 months ago after a heart attack. I think you’ll soon be home.
Good luck and try not to worry, know that's hard, but wishing you a speedy recovery. Thinking of you.x
Thinking of you - my best wishes for a full and quick recovery. I had a triple bypass in June 2018 and haven't looked back since. The result was like winding the clock back 20 years. Even though I was reasonably fit before I had the surgery, I am so much better now. Onwards and upwards I say - look to the future!
Good luck and best wishes for a full and quick recovery.
Adding to all those good wishes. My date for aortic valve replacement is 3 weeks today. So on more than one level I would love to know how you get on.. Take care now, Tess
Hope all goes well for you tomorrow with no delays. It's such a great feeling post op knowing that it's now been sorted and you can embrace a new beginning. Wishing you well on your recovery journey...
Having had aortic valve replacement and a double bypass, I can empathise with you. Keep thinking positive it really does help.
Love and best wishes.
I am going in on Wednesday for operation on Thursday for replacement Mitral valve, trying to relax but very anxious. Good luck and will look out for your posts when we are recovering.
Anxious yes I agree😁and good luck to u as well I’ll let u know 👍
And its a triple whammy! I am going in for a Tricuspid valve replacement on Wednesday! Has Mitral and Aortic done separately in last 18 months. Good luck to you both.
Good luck for tomorrow - the anticipation is often worse than your hospital stay - I was very anxious however I recovered really well and the day after my op I managed to send a video message to my sister - not bad hey!
Thinking of you 🌸
I had my aortic valve replaced, at the Freeman ,in Newcastle ,
December 2015,
Like others have said ,
you are in the hands of the worlds best,
They will look after you,
it's easy to say don't worry, and you wouldn't be human if you didn't,
but please don't worry!
You won't be in any pain ,at any stage of your recovery ,
The first few weeks are a bit of a slog,
but take it one day at a time ,and go at your own pace ,
Three months down the line you will start to feel like a new person.
All the best
Paul
Best of luck, with all these well wishes you are bound to get better. Let us know how you get on.
