What is meant by strenuous exercise post op? I am having an upgrade to my pacemaker with an extra lead. Will I be able to go on a city break 10 days post surgery?

Nobody here can really answer your questions. You really need to talk to your GP or the cardiology team. A call to the BHF nurses might be beneficial. If the City break is overseas you also need to check insurance coverage. Personally it sounds rather to soon to me.

10 days sounds too soon to me also, plus wouldn't the area still be quite tender, leads haven't quite bedded in, risk of wound infection, etc ? There is a danger of being bashed about particularly if you're in a very busy area, tourist attractions etc?

This link is for NHS advice for pacemaker implantation. An upgrade should be considered the same as having one for the first time. The advice talks about having 7 days off work and resuming normal in 4 - 6 weeks, so 10 days does seem rather soon.

I'm sure your GP can advise you on this. I had an ICD fitted last August and was told to try and take it nice and easy for the first two weeks. I would have thought that a city break will hardly be relaxing so would personally not sign up to something like this so close to having had surgery
