Five years again I was borderline blood pressure but I think it’s creeping up a little now got a review in two weeks I am feeling a little worried that this time I will need something to lower it a little. I am very sensitive to any meds I tried bisoprolol for 10 days some months ago got problems had to stop it. I have asthma too so and ace one is out they give a bad cough. I really need something that would lower heart rate too. Calcium channel blockers can give you a fast heartbeat I believe might be wrong. Any advice would be appreciated thanks it would be lovely if meds’ dont give you side effects. Have you found side effects go away in time with any medication mine get worse when I took the bisoprolol

Blood pressure meds
Hi Tinker like you I have a number of sensitivities and allergies to medication. Whenever I start any new medication I always start with either a quarter or half of even the lowest dose. I then increase it gradually until I can tolerate the minimum whole tablet dose. I stress this has only ever been under the advice and supervision of my GP or pharmacist. I also discovered that Lansoprazole was one of the core antagonists! It caused me such problems. I had to start and stop every drug to discover which was causing problems.
So I think it’s important to discuss your options with your GP but also pharmacist as they tend to be more knowledgeable about interactions with different drugs. You can often just walk in and ask to speak to a pharmacist without an appointment so maybe ask them before your next appointment.
I hope you can get it sorted. Take care. Zena
