Hi all I’m new here, I suffer with ARVC I was diagnosed in April 2019 after suffering VT, I’ve had an icd fitted and after 6 months it showed I had a few episodes in one day which worries me. Since then I’ve been worried to overdo anything but also aware that I need to keep fit and improve my cardio, I have joined a gym and was wondering what advice anyone could give me regarding what exercises etc would be beneficial and is it ok to go swimming as I’ve read that the pools can affect the device. As I'm sure you are aware, exercise can be problematic in AVRC, so do check with your cardiologists and follow their advice as to what is safe in your particular circumstances.
All the best
I would refrain from swimming. As for cardio I would also keep my heart rate below 120. So as much as it kills me to do the same and it’s hard to keep weight off since I used to run so much eating whatever I wanted wasn’t a problem. Diet and light exercise will do. I wear a heart monitor and do the elliptical and light cable weights so I won’t hurt myself if I have to drop weights. If my heart rate goes above 120 I wait until it goes back down to at least 100 before starting again. Big thing is for the doctors to mess with your doses and until you have very few episodes. They may have to do an epicardial ablation to control them.
