Hello my Husband was diagnosed with HF and AF back in August, amongst other medication he was given Ramipril 2x2.5 daily. This week the Gp said the hospital wanted an increase of an extra 1.25 mg Ramipril , also as his mood is low a sertraline 50mg x1 was given. Since then his already very poor appetite , has worsened , as his stomach cavity still has fluid , he feels uncomfortably bloated. When he takes the tablets he dry retches , also how long does it take for sertraline to kick in?. Has anyone experience of this , or any tips to deal with the persistent thirst thank you

Increasing tablet dosage
Antidepressants like sertraline can start to work on depression within the first two weeks of treatment, and the improvement continues over the following few weeks. It may take four weeks or longer for you to get the full effect.
Unfortunately, loss of appetite is a recognised side effect of sertraline so I’m not sure where to go with this. He might feel better once his mood levels out. If in doubt, go and see your GP.
Hello thanks for your speedy reply I suppose it is early days he has been on it a week, he already had loss of appetite , so this certainly wont help. Hopefully he will feel better soon, and that will outweigh the other issues.
Hi I found out I had heart failure in April and I am on 50mg sertraline I started on 1.25 ramipril morn and night then my heart doctor put my night up to 2.25mg at night she is going increase the night then morning until I get to a high dose that she is happy with but they have to keep an eye on my blood pressure and just before I have my increase I have to have my bloods done I have found sometimes I just cant bebothered to eat and when I do it's only a very small amount I have also found it hard to swallow food seems to get stuck so I eat mushy food I hope this helps
Thank you for the reply , my husband is now on 6,25 Ramipril daily , as well as the sertraline, bisoprolol , digoxin, bumetanide ,apixaban . As well as this his blood pressure is low , so the tablet change has been gradual. I think he cant be bothered to eat , as he feels bloated , also as he always feels "dry" he struggles to swallow, he eats yoghurts, trifles, soft fruit. I think he is low due to the shock of the diagnosis . Do you have an issues with fluid in stomach cavity ?, I don't think the bloating he has , is helping the food situation
