I was due to go and watch Tranmere Rovers FC play Coventry today, but as the weather was so beautiful I decided to go for a long walk instead. The picture was taken at Cubbins Green in West Kirby on the Wirral Way, an old railway line between Hooton and West Kirby that closed in the 1960s - the 12 mile stretch now forms the Wirral Way a footpath, bridleway. The tide on the River Dee had not long come in and was starting to ebb with the sun setting on the hills of North Wales, it just made a perfect tranquil spot
It's been a long time since I was well enough on 1st Jan to go for a long walk, so I really enjoyed it, and Tranmere lost 4-1 so didn't miss anything there!

Have to agree with you both about Wirral. We went for a walk yesterday around Parkgate, there were a lot of people around some walking like us but also some sitting & eating chips or the ice cream. We managed to avoid both & only had a coffee, black for me!
One problem if you go to a "beauty" spot any food outlet just seems to offer junk food: ice cream, chips, burgers, etc. Another problem with ones within easy reach are excessive car parking charges - one is now £3 minimum.
Such a beautiful Photo. Pleased you enjoyed your walk. And glad to hear you are better than previous years to get out and about. Long may it contiue.. Brian
Beautiful photo. We went to John o’ Groats on Hogmanay during the day, Dornoch’s Street Party for the bells, and Portmahomack on New Years Day - first time for a few years that we have been able to do much.
