Merry Christmas

My first Christmas after heart attack on 28.12.18. As regards food - ate everything yesterday, best bit was the M&S Yule log -beautiful. As for drink, had a few lagers then drank alcohol free rose wine the rest of the day. Enjoyed myself, and it's great waking up with a clear head today

Good for you!

I have been the total since Feb 2017 when diagnosed with severe heart failure. And although it was difficult at first... I am so much happier now without alcohol. No silly embarrassing behaviour.. no hangovers... more money in my pocket.... getting out and doing more than I used to (because I don't suffer hangovers and lose a day) and the best bit is I am well and going from strength to strength healthier. Welcome to the tee total club ... it's a fab club to be part of 😁

Drinking is like anything else, it can be beneficial in moderation. A class of wine with a meal should be fine. It's the same with your diet. Eat what you want but just smaller portions, but stay away from fat if you can. Prepare your own meals, buy better quality food from the butcher and greengrocer. Then you can enjoy a good glass of wine with the meal you have prepared yourself.

Welcome to new world, a new way of doing things. Start a savings pot with the money you would have spent on drinks and save up for a good holiday.

You may well find yourself mixing with active people who do things rather than sit and drink, the walkers, the dancers, the singers, the language learners, the gardeners, the volunteers, the woodworkers, the active people.

Give it a bit of time and you will discover the alcohol free/ low alcohol beers and wines, but as your life changes and you adopt a new way of living you might find your old ways less appealing?

Thanks, i am seeing it as a positive. I am much better for not having a drink both in work and at home.

Do miss a glass of wine on a Saturday but if that's what it takes .

56 and want so much more yet.
