When my recurrent pericarditis is in an acute flare episode, and during most of the recovery period, I am chair bound with feet up and it drives me straight up the wall. I try to be patient but it's not easy - I'm used to being far more active. I'm in the last stages of recovery now and am able to drag myself out twice daily for a (very) short walk, and do some indoor exercise with free weights and one of those granny half-bike things (which is fine as I am a gran of five). When I can't do that much I at least try to do some chair exercises with free weights. It helps keep me somewhat toned.

I 'cope' (ha!) by doing needlework (embroidery, hand quilting, crochet, knitting), and papercrafting I can work using a lap table. Keeps me busy-ish but really, being stuck in a chair or on the sofa with my feet up is beyond annoying!
