My second post today but I just wanted to emphasis the benefits of rehab following a cardiac event. I'm on my sixth week and feel more confident and stronger. The group support each other and there are always cardiac nurses to answer any questions.
I completed the 8 week rehab sessions in 2017 nothing has changed so it must be tried and tested.
If it is offered to you please go you won't regret it! ❤️

I'm glad your re-hab has been a positive experience for you. It was the making of my husband, really helped him come to terms with what had happened to him and how to go forward, living with a heart condition. Thank you for posting
I did 12 weeks (twice a week) earlier this year following my heart attack last December. After having an ICD implanted in August, I'm back in cardio rehab gym for a second round - just finished my 4th week.
Amazing service, after my heart attack someone who'd been to rehab some years ago implored me to grab the opportunity - to be honest, I'd read quite a lot about the benefits so was very keen to go - I'm so glad that I did, it make a vast difference both in body and mind.
I didn’t get offered any after my AVR. I think if I had been an emergency case I would have chased it up, but I’d had nearly 40 years to get used to the idea that I would need the surgery so was reasonably okay about it when it happened. I would think for emergency cases and heart attacks it would be very helpful for rebuilding your confidence.
I had a triple CABG in Sept 2018 and completed the 8 week cardio rehab course followed by 12 week HeartSmart course then joined the gym at a reduced price. I am now back to playing Vets 11 a side football up to 90 mins on Sunday mornings, playing 8 a side football for an hour on Tuesday evenings and doing a Fresh Start gym session for 2 hours on Thursday evenings.
Wouldn't expect everybody to do the above but keeping something going every week is a must and the rehab gets you back into the groove.
I loved cardiac rehab, I finished two weeks ago and really miss it. The support and information is first class. The people are very friendly and supportive. They helped me over come the denial of a ha and move on with my life. I don't think I could have done it on my own
Have a look around for local walking groups so you can transition from classes to getting out and about with company to keep an eye on you. It is great getting out and about in the green stuff and helps you slowly but surely get fitter.
Cardiac rehab is a great resource. My hubby reluctantly went along to the first session after his first HA and really enjoyed it. He recommended it to others. After his second HA and CABG he was looking forward to the classes again (the same physio was running the one he chose) and we went to two classes. Unfortunately he had a small stroke a couple of days later and although he is now 95% recovered he would not cope.
He has mended quite well now and is able to drive again which allows him to go cutting farm hedges on the tractor. We does about 4 hours a day most weeks so is quite happy! He’s 70 but his work is his hobby!
