Not sure I can force myself to attend.
Appointment tomorrow with cardiologis... - British Heart Fou...
Appointment tomorrow with cardiologist I am very anxious.
Hi Bleau,
Why are you so nervous about you're Cardiologist Appointment ??.
Is this you're 1st appointment.?.
If it is, please don't worry about it..
I don't know you're circumstances.
But I'll be thinking of you..🤞👍x Gjkas.
Hi thank you.
You're Welcome. x
I was diagnosed in January with micro vascular angina, this is the first time I will be seeing the cardiologist since.
I am really anxious have been all week.
Hi Bleau
What is making you feel anxious?
You have had a very long wait.
I suggest you write down a list of questions you would like ask.
Maybe a diary of your symptoms.
Perhaps printout the BHF information leaflet about MVA too and take this to the appointment and discuss this with the Cardiologist.
Hi thank you. I think I have been referred back as I was unable to start rehab due to SOB and exhaustion they have increased my medication which has helped.
Just the fear of the unknown about tomorrow.
We all fear the unknown.
Nathan 53 has given you some great advice.
You are a patient now and yes you do need and deserve the care. Please do not feel otherwise.
Many former Healthcare professionals give so much during their working lives as you did for your patients. Now it's your turn.
I hope your appointment goes well.
Even after 7 years and knowing my Cardiologist really well I still feel anxious at my appointments my blood pressure and heart rate still goes up, my ECGs show up changes due to my stress induced vasospasms.
Sitting quietly, just breathing and relaxing is such good advice!
Milk fairy will be along shorty, I'm sure she'll be able to put your mind at rest. Please try not to worry too much. Keep in touch, let us know how you get on x
You're lucky to have a follow up appt, after I was diagnosed I was sent on my way to get on with it 😕
I am really sorry to hear that.😔
Hi Bleau, i can understand you being nervous, especially after waiting all this time. Isn't Vascular Angina where the tiny blood vessels in the heart muscle gets slightly narrower.
I'm not medically trained but I think that's what it is.???.
If you don't understand all that he or she is telling you, ask them to explain it again and write it down.
Sometimes its a lot to take in.
Wishing you all the best for your appointment.👍You'll be fine. x
Hope you have a lovely carefree Christmas. 🎅🤶.
Hi Gjkas
You can have microvascular angina caused by vasospasms the small vessels temporarily narrowing or an inability of the blood vessels to dilate.
Also vasospastic angina when the coronary arteries go into spasm upto 90% so little more than slightly😊
Whatever it hurts!
I bet it does.
I have 2 Heart valve's that aren't working. They can't do a replacement because my Cardiologist told me they can't find a Surgeon prepared to do it,
Because I wouldn't survive it.
I also have Angina, COPD and Asthma. I also have 16 cm Haitus Hernia, Umbilical Hernia, Cysts in the one kidney, Cyst on the Pancreas, Gallstones, Diverticulitis etc. I have to see the Anaesthetist in 3 weeks time to see if he will give me a General Anaesthetic..
My Gastrointerologist Consultant said my Gallbladder needs to come out because it's causing some issues there..
Wouldn't it be lovely to go to sleep and wake up without any more pain.
Been trying to cope with it all, but im finding it really hard to cope with it all now.😱
Hope you can have a good day today. 😊.
Hi Gjkas
Sorry to read that you are facing so many challenges in your life all at once.
Living with pain in our lives is certainly very weary.
I hope your appointment with the anaethetist goes well and you can find a way of being a little more at ease soon.
Hi Bleau
I know how you feel, I had a heart attack out of nowhere last December, and it really frightened me and for a while I just wanted to put my head under the duvet and hope it would all go away. It doesn't of course, so we just have to adjust to our new life and make the best life we can. Hope it goes well tomorrow.
Thank you. I am a medically retired RGN I should know better but I hate hospital/GP appointments and get myself in such a state it’s ridiculous.
It’s not ridiculous, there is often no choice in how we feel! It’s good to acknowledge it and hopefully the support you are getting here will encourage you enough to go to the appt. Take care
Hi Bleau. I was a radiographer in my other life. I have/had cancer. I now see a Cardiologist because of the damage a cancer drug did to my heart. I’m frightened too. I think people like you and me make the worst patients..being on the ‘ other side ‘ isn’t
much fun is it ?
But the Doctors know this (they are the WORST patients) and will understand. Good luck. I’m sure you’ll be fine but you must go.
I have an appointment for an Echo this week so will be thinking of you !
Far better to see your cardiologist and find out how to live a longer life than bury your head in the sand and shorten your lifespan in my opinion. Chances are it will all be fine and then you won’t be worrying all Xmas.
I had a HA 2 weeks ago and wish I had a cardiologist to talk to, so go to your appointment!
I will get my nerves under control and sorry for being a selfish person when many people can’t get appointments.
I have given myself a kick .
Thank you.
Hi, I dont think you’re selfish, just scared. And it’s ok to be scared because this is “a big thing”. Logic doesn’t stop our feelings, they’re separate parts of the brain. So it’s ok to feel how you feel. Just please don’t let it stop you doing the things that actually might turn out better than you think they might, or that you know you should do. (I hope that doesn’t sound preachy because I don’t mean it that way).
All the best for tomorrow and always.
In some ways maybe your background as RGN in this instance does not help and you are hard on yourself thinking you should know better. The appts I have dreaded the most are the ones where upon leaving the hosp I have smiled and wondered why I had got myself so worked up. Allow extra time to arrive for appointment, take something to read have a few / coffee and breath deep. Take list of questions pen & paper and tell Cardiologist you feel really anxious but wants to have your questions answered. Onward and upward you will be fine
Hoping the appointment went/goes well, and you'll update this discussion to let us know how you've got on.
Anywhere in London?
It's good to know there's someone else, who are not too keen!
I'm due for another MRI in Dec (the next month), but wouldn't plan to return until later next year after that. They already gave me another appointment sooner (but I prefer not to re-visit too soon).
Good luck and thank you for sharing.
