Hello everyone. Feeling more tightness in chest since weather cooling. Can exercise no problem whatsoever. Take GTN spray and do feel better once I take but was wondering whether I need to be on other medications if i have to take my spray daily when it's cold outside?

The cold air contracts the arteries and can bring on angina where arteries are narrowed. This was a major problem for me before my bypass. The best solution is to put a scarf over your mouth especially when it gets frosty or there is freezing fog. Also report it to your GP in case things are deteriorating and intervention, e.g. stents, are needed.

Thankyou Michael I will. I hope not! I have been so good. Lost over 2 stones. Chlosterol down from 5.9 to 4.5. Last blood test around 3 months ago. Just started on statins. Take aspirin daily. No other meds.Nitro spray when I take does relieve pain. My angina is so weird... I can go weeks and weeks and then it can come back just out of the blue. I do have heart disease 70% blockage of LAD. Never have any pain when I exercise or increase my heart rate ever.. But I have noticed that the cold weather does bring it on. I naively thought if I watched my diet, cut out all bad carbohydrates, sugars, saturated fats I could stabilise my condition. I do not have high blood pressure or diabetes

Rather than use GTN spray I took anti- anginal tablets. Isosorbide Mononitrate and Diltiazem are two examples. My LAD was 85% and three other arteries were over 70%. Fingers crossed it is stable!
