Hi I’ve been diagnosed with AF last year and it’s been well managed but all of a sudden I’m having episodes every day some lasting all day on and off. Sometimes jus a few minutes. I had a 24 hour ECG monitor on last week where it recorded three separate AF incidents. Dr said there was nothing nasty on there and to wait for the cardiologist but can’t get an appointment until Dec. I’m on Bisoprolol 10mg but it doesn’t seem to be the drug for me and I want to change but GP won’t change until the cardiologist has seen me. I’m having a bad day today and don’t fancy an A&E visit tonight but I can see it happening. I need reassurance

It’s a very unnerving, isn’t it? Sorry you are having such a worrying time.
I started monitoring everything...trying to find out what set it off.
One thing I’ve noticed is more intense exercise (I’ve had two episodes after gardening at the allotment), and also whenever my HR goes over 120.
I keep a much better eye on HR now, especially doing exercise classes.
Just easing off a bit, seems to do the trick.
Oh my word I do sympathise. I went into AF during my aortic valve replacement earlier this year and it stayed with me for 6 weeks. I had great difficulty coping with the symptoms and was thoroughly miserable throughout. My surgeon increased my Apixaban and that really helped me get through until things righted themselves. You need some help in getting through this troublesome phase but you will get there with the right support. Please seek the help you need, you shouldn’t sit there and suffer if something can be done to help you. Good luck - there are lots of people on this forum going through the same thing who will also sympathise.
Apixaban stops clots forming, but won't affect the AF
Also try the AF section of HU

Unfortunately AF isn't considered immediately life threatening so you are always put on a waiting list, but if you're like me, it drains you of energy and you feel rubbish.
There are several drug options which the cardios will probably try, but first you should eliminate any obvious triggers. I assume you are already on Warfarin.
Caffeine is one trigger, try to eliminate it from your diet and also keep the alcohol low. There are also some odd ones like liquorice, cold and flu remedies etc, but good old stress is unfortunately a big trigger, at least for me.
We are all different, I was tried on Sotalol but it made it worse, I had cardioversion which worked for a few months, but eventually after 9 months Flecainide was suggested by my AF nurse (bless her) and I have been (mostly) in sinus rhythm for the last few years.
I am sure you will find something that works for you eventually, you just have to persevere and keep knocking on the docs door!
Good luck
