pVCs
hi no medication will ever make themCompletely go I’ve had etopic beats for years suffer from real bad anxiety from them so I do take a beta blocker dose help but doesn’t make them go away
Didn't get rid completely as my EP said, but drastically reduced them to almost none. Now I rarely notice them. I will say it took a bit of time to get the dosage correct, but after I got over the hump and the initiation period, I swore I'd never quit taking them because they help so much! Wishing the same for you...
Thank you Siouxbee so you never come off the meds do you think if you came off beata blockers the extra beats would return. My consultant mentioned ablation or something if the meds didn’t stop them. Take care xxx
I personally think they would return as frequently and bad as they did, and I gained so much relief from the beta blockers that I am afraid to stop them. I was also later put on Sotalol as well, after I had ventricular tachycardia.
The only major problem, for me personally, I gained a lot of weight after I began taking the beta blockers. It had to be them, because that is the only thing that changed in my life to cause weight gain. I never had a problem with weight until then. I still exercised, ate a healthy diet, etc...etc... but I've been told that is a rare occurrence to gain weight on them, doctors all deny it. I also have other medical issues, such as hypothyroidism and colitis, and since beta blockers slow your heart and metabolism, it sounds perfectly plausible that a person with my health issues could gain weight. If I could find a medication that works so well for arrhythmias but doesn't cause the weight gain, I'd try it out in a heartbeat.
My electrophysiologist explained to me that ablation would not work for me because I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and the pathways are universal, meaning there is not just one area that could be ablated to perhaps help the problem. However, this article talks about septal ablation for HCM, so I am not sure.

Sorry for the long post, but hope it helps. Take care yourself... )
IMO beta blockers don’t fix or cure PVCs all they do is make your heart rate slower so you can’t feel them as much. In my case they made it worse so I stopped them. I can feel everyone I have so they just didn’t work for me, and made me very tired.
Touch Wood on my increase of Entresto they have virtually gone, next ECG 9th Jan 2020 so will see then. I did have a High Burden according to Cardiologist !!
Regards
What is Entresto? I had a high burden also, 20,000 plus a day. It was to much for me to deal with anymore so I got the ablation. I hope yours stay away and your ECG goes well! Good luck!
Hi Catlady
Entresto is the brand name for a Heart Failure Medication that is made up of Sacubitril/Valsartan. It comes in 3 different values. Mid dose is 49/51 mg 2 x daily.
It can only be prescribed by Cardiologist or Heart Failure Nurse, and then by GP. In my case they stopped Furosemide and Isosorbide Mononitrate so my Blood Pressure would increase before starting Entresto. I need an ECG and Blood Test before moving to Highest Dose in January . I have asked on Pumping Marvellous web site if anyone else had noticed Ectopic Beats change since being on Entresto and I have had a response in the positive. Only other thing is my Pulse has increased to low 60s even though Bisoprolol has stayed at 7,5 mg. Funny stuff this medication stop 2 and start 1. I was on the Ablation Route before but hopefully that has gone away now !
Regards
ps I have Heart Failure and I have had By pass surgery and Further Stenting.
