Micro-rant

So.. it’s 9.20 and my ‘A’ has been with me for an hour already. Not enough to hit the GTN yet, but enough.... fortunately nothing much to do today but try and not say Owww in front of my wife too much.

Still better than yesterday. Stress MRI- don’t ask—- no, REALLY don’t ask. I have great empathy for the paper in our printer now though, I feel like taking it for a coffee before filling the tray.

Sorry to be the messenger! I would suggest decaffeinated coffee or tea as caffeine can raise pulse and BP slightly what is not really needed. I have a relationship with my car but never been out with a PC printer!

P.S. Feel free to rant!

Decaf tea and coffee - yes, I use both, particularly after lunch. But, but ... both lack the right taste. (I don't mind not getting that caffeine kick). It's the taste I want, so what does everyone on decaf actually buy AND like?

Trouble is that the water used can also have a big effect. Yorkshire tea is revolting where I live (West Midlands - Severn-Trent, multiple use reprocessed water), but tasted good when I went on holiday to Northumberland!

Thanks MichaelJH, but tried the decaff solution, and it didn’t help. Mostly my BP is low anyway (it hit 65 over something yesterday.) Besides, 24 hour of total decaf before yesterday’s test was almost the worse thing about it (I lie, it wasn’t close).....

Just wondering what coffee the printer had - a latte maybe? Have seen babychinos but not printachinos! ☕

It generally has what I spill on it, and it caused it problems. I’ll try decaf on it next time.

I think I don't want another perfusion MRI ever again either.

I was sent to A&E after my last one in August as the adenosine set off my vasospasms......

I can't drink coffee anymore as you know I dip and lick my spoon in my other half's coffee.

😂☕🥄

Thanks that’s comforting. I could cope with a normal mri, or in another context, when I could move, I could cope with the magic potion (possibly-not sure). But the potion, when stuck in the tube: no, just NO.

Does the stuff hang around in the system? Had some weird A today that was worse than usual, and a bit like yesterday.

It took a couple of days for my vasospastic angina to settle down. Also it is colder recently so that might not help.

The increase in my heart rate triggered my angina.

I managed okay in the tube with what felt like the biggest weight ever pinning me down on the table.

My chest pain started when I came out of the tube.

I hope it all settles down soon. I will have to add adenosine along with beta blockers to my drug intolerance list.

I think we are all intolerant of adenosine, I suspect that is the point of it (I can’t find a wry laughter icon to use here, but you can imagine).

BTW, I’ve been taken off the beta blockers because on intolerance too. It was knocking ten points off my BP, and was only on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol. Can’t say it has changed anything except my BP, and I’m less able to balance my day as I do too much in the early morning- I’m learning though.

Coffee is a vasoconstrictor if you take more than 3 cups a day?

HectorsDad profile image

I think much of this exchange was more about if coffee was a ‘printer-restrictor’, but thanks, yes I know. Me and coffee have a long history😁.

We seem to be all in the same boat most of the time.....

I have my CMR Scan in Nov and I am looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time...

I also came off Beta Blocker, as they seemed to increased my symptoms.

Feel a bit better now, but also need to learn to balance my day better.

Main problem is walking, any distance is causing problem, so much that we have now purchased a wheelchair. Took a lot of soul searching and many tears to come to that decision but at least I can now get out and about again without having to weigh up the consequences

Hope you all have a great day!

Haha ,

Oh how to make your Cardiologist blush mention periods and sex 😉

A laugh out loud moment indeed 😂

I just don't use GTN spray anymore as it works briefly then I am hit by worse rebound angina so not worth the effort.

Hoping for a warm winter everyone 🥶

Is she a 3D printer?

HectorsDad profile image
HectorsDad in reply to MichaelJH

Curious timing. I’m just threading filament into my 3D printer😀.

The conversation started with me comparing having an MRI scan to being the paper in my regular printer ( and my empathy for it).

But I am really enjoying my new 3D printer. It’s the perfect Hearty activity because it’s 20 minutes brain/ computer activity, five minutes setting it up, then I can go and sleep for a couple of hours while it makes it for me.

I gather they can 3D print heart valves now. Thought I might print myself a few spares- how hard can it be😂

My car club has started to 3D print a few components now. It is ideal for those small plastic parts like the retainer for the sunvisor.

I'd love a 3D printer, but I don't know what I'd do with it. Print a decent football team or people to work in the NHS (so badly needed)?

At the moment, what I really need is someone to do the gardening, which is where I ought to be now.
