I assume PIP is the only option, my Husband is starting to consider this following his HA in April. I'm not sure if he's be successful as he can do park run but other activities leave him exhausted for days and his mental capacity isn't what it was.

I don't know much about benefits especially PIP, I'm sure someone else will be along with something more constructive

ESA maybe, your best bet would be to speak to citizens advice as they can help you apply. Good luck, you don't need to be worrying about money while you're recovering

As Lezzers had said speak to the CAB who have experience of the benefits system. PIP is mainly for those who need assistance in day-to-day living. Hopefully you are recovering well and this is not the case!

oh council tax benefit might be another one that will give you a helping hand

Hi. I suggest you have a chat with the CAB. If you’re disabled then there could be financial support that you might be able to access. Good luck.

Hello

Yes go to your local citizens advice they will advice you of all benefit entitlement including help with council tax. Check their opening hours and make sure you take all relevant income documents with you including income of partner( if you have one) as some benefits are income based, some are not

You are very fortunate to work for a company that have paid you for this long. Is there no way you can return to work gradually now or are you still having problems and have been advised against it?

If you’re on a fit note and your SSP is ending, then you may be entitled to ESA. If you are entitled to ESA, then you may also be entitled to housing benefit and council tax help. Depending on where you live in the UK, this may actually mean that you need to put in a claim for universal credit. This is a link to info about ESA on a website called Turn2Us - I’ve used them previously and found them very good, but they also have a benefits calculator that from experience is extremely accurate and reliable:

turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guid...

If you fill in the questionnaire, they’ll not only tell you what benefits you may be entitled to, but also how much you are likely to get. It’s worth pointing out that ESA is usually means-tested, so if you have savings over £16k the expectation is you should be using those to cover your costs, but I’ve yet to meet anyone considering claiming benefits that had anything like that kind of money in the bank. If you have a partner/spouse and they’re working, this (meaning their wages) is also taken into account for the means-tested portion of ESA.

The other option to consider is whether or not a claim for PIP is appropriate; if the expectation is that you’re going to fully recover and return to work without any kind of ongoing medical problems or restrictions on what you are physically capable of doing, then PIP is unlikely to be applicable. Turn2Us do also have information on this too, though.

Hope that’s been of some help.

Not all ESA is means tested but based on your record of National Insurance contributions, meanings savings are not taken into consideration.

Hi, you can apply for new style ESA through the department for work and pensions online. Also PIP.

This is UK information - I believe there is only legislation in employment law to pay someone 100% of pay for 3 months long term sickness and then 50% for another 3 months after that. Ask to talk to the Personnel Manager and point this out to them. Have a look at your house and/or content insurance for there is also a provision to pay the repayments if on sickness - finally - if your employer is a b****rd and none of the other approaches work, speak to citizens advice for you could be entitled to a sick pay benefit although the name may have recently changed. Most important this is not to worry and to get better - Oh and just another thought, if all else fails, you could approach the lender of the mortgage and tell them about your sickness - it is in no ones interests to make your life difficult from circumstances beyond your control. Remember when one door smashes closed in your face, there is always another door that opens.................NEVER GIVE UP

New style ESA is not means tested and it does not matter what savings you have or what your spouse/partner earns. What matters is that you have paid national insurance for the last two years. It is £73 per week. Not a lot I know but it helps.

Contact your utility companies and have a chat with their customer services department - they may be able to help you roll over some of your payments. get your GP to refer you to the local food bank. Try and get out for a walk every day to admire the trees and the green stuff to take your mind off it all and help you get a bit fitter. If you have done your rehab you should have a steady improvement going on.
