While I was in hospital with angina I couldn't stop with spray the cardiology team turned off my defibrillator. I had signed for DNR and this apparently was the next step. Although it has not fired in a long time it still feels a bit strange.

I am very sorry to hear how poorly you are. Its a very brave decision to have your ICD turned off. I hope you and your family are being adequatey supported. Best wishes to you & your family
Difficult to know what to say but my very best wishes to you and your family.
You are so brave. My husband has a defib which has never fired but he is now in end of life and refusing to have it deactivated. I am so scared. You have saved loved ones from a lot of extra anguish. I'm reassured by your last words that it feels a bit strange. Well done for posting this message. Goodness knows how many people you have helped. Xx
IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT ON Rre occasions the heart starts beating fast and the defibrillator keaps firing. Imagine the distress to loved one's this would cause. I don't consider myself brave just sensible. Thanks for your kind words.
Best wishes to you Mollycorn x
Sending best wishes Xx
Sending ❤️ And 🤗 to you and your family. Thank you for sharing and helping others xxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi Mollycorn
I've just read your post. I'm at the other end of the spectrum in that I've just had an ICD fitted 2 weeks ago , but prior to having it fitted the process of having it deactivated and reasons for doing so were explained to me.
It's hard to know what to say in these situations, but thank you for posting, it's something a number of us may need to face at some point. Best wishes to you and your family
Sending you lots of love and hugs xx
Blessings to you and your family, what a brave and generous soul you are for sharing this with us! I thank you for clarifying something I've always thought about, but never got an answer to, until now. Much peace and comfort sent your way...🙏🕊️
