Angiogram through Ulnar artery

Bit of a moment last week, resulting in another angiogram (no 4, nothing conclusive found). They used the Ulnar artery this time. Five days later and the bruising is less than previous angio’s, but much more painful than I remember from the previous radial procedures.

They did have a couple of attempts at using the radial again ( and that hurt!) but gave up and switched to Ulnar.

Any one know anything about this, or can offer experience? Wondering if it’s normal, or maybe why they prefer not to use it.

Using the ulnar artery can occasionally lead to injury or irritation of the ulnar nerve. This in nearby all cases in transient. Check with your GP if it does not start to settle or you are worried. I had some nerve damage to my hand post bypass and it took three months to fully settle.

Well I’m into my third week post angiogram via radial artery, and it still hurts! And bruising still up to elbow. So I reckon it’s a bit random, all these things are so small that it’s the difference of a fraction of a millimetre between pain and no pain.. And don’t the ulnar and radial both join up after a few centimetres anyway?

I had my angiogram through my ulcer artery, it was fine, afterwards, the bruising was very sever, the whole of my arm went a dark navy colour,' it didn't hurt but my children were very impressed.
