Newbie on board!! 1990 my dad died of heart attack aged 52.

I am 49 and survived 2 heart attacks, with the help of bhf and research into heart failure I survived, 29 years ago things were different to modern day treatment.

Last 6 months life has changed, but I am doing ok and happy with life. Take each day as it comes and enjoy the day 😊.

Good health and good luck to you all.

Hello and welcome to the forum! My father died prematurely in 1980 (anniversary five days ago) from a heart attack, as did his brother and their father. Despite this history and other risk factors like diabetes my concerns were not really taken seriously until I developed angina. This culminated in a quadruple bypass last year. I am limited somewhat by an arthritic hip (on the To Do list) but glad to still be here! 😎

Welcome Ynysmon69. My dad died at the age of 62, he'd survived a minor heart attack at age 53 then a massive HA 3 cardiac arrests at age 59. He then spent the last 3 years of his life struggling to breathe. Knowing what I know now I believe he had HF, but I don't know if he was ever diagnosed. I fortunately don't have a heart condition, but 2 years after my dad died my husband had a massive HA & cardiac arrest. Having had the experience with my dad helped enormously in knowing how to cope & how to ensure he got the correct treatment. My husband has HF and has an ICD fitted My dad died in 1995,things were so much different then, the care or the knowledge wasn't as good then. I'm glad you're doing OK, it is about enjoying and appreciating each day.
