I had a Nstemi heart attack at 47 on 22/07/2019 , had 1 stent fitted but don’t know if this was the right thing to do ,i am on the regular heart attack meds and having difficulty getting used to them , still getting mild pain in chest now and then but not as bad as the HA. Is this normal ? Or will it go away once stent is settled in . Anyone else about my age or younger with same condition can give me advice on how to handle all this as I’m finding it really difficult. Thanks

I am 48 and had a NStemi HA back in May and 1 stent fitted and must admit was a big shock. I was back in Papworth a couple of weeks ago for day surgery for further investigation but all ok. I have felt really good since the HA and have managed to do some exercise and have just started Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme which is really useful.
I do wake up some mornings and the first thing I think about is the HA but other mornings I never give it a thought and must admit this is becoming more common. Saying that I am always conscious about not over doing things.
Just being sensible about everything, diet, exercise stress etc is the best advice I can give
Hi, your doing OK. I had two MI'S Nstemi in Mid May and had a stent fitted three days later. Afterwards I experience chest pain for 2/3 weeks I was told it was the stent settling in, but I was scared it was another heart attack. The medication takes some time to get used to, 12 weeks in and still finding some medication makes me very tired, discussed with Consultant who told me I would get used to it! But he did suggest changing the Bisoprolol to a similar drug, hope this gives me a boost! Have you been referred to Cardiac Rehab? Iam on week 6 today and love it, so good to meet people in the same or similar situation to us. Just be kind to yourself and your body, it's early days, and the shock of what has happened takes a while to accept what has happened. Talk about how your feeling, I still have days where I get upset and think "what if" but, we are lucky to be here, don't worry if your emotional, snappy, it does get better, eventually. Look after yourself.
Hi , thanks for the advice , not getting any pain today so that’s a bonus, hopefully was muscle strain . Looking forward to the cardiac rehab in September , my gp says I can get back in the gym now but I think I’ll wait until the rehab session as don’t want to overdo it and the meds are making me feel really tired . Slowly beginning to accept what’s happened but still in shock and can’t stop thinking about it but as you say will take time .
I forgot to say iam a very young 65! But some days I feel 21 some days 100! Just done my 6th visit to Cardiac Rehab and iam shattered! Hope your feeling slightly less anxious today. This site has helped me so much and so has the rehab! Remember to be kind to yourself and take it easy.Brighter days are around the corner. If your able, have a few nights away just to feel "normal" it helps and gives you a chance to reflect on what you have been through. Even better if you have a partner to go with. Take care.
