Lvedp and function class confusing

Morning all , I hope you are all feeling ok today.

Ok so my angiogram results are in and docs are saying probably dilated cardiomyopathy. But still have mri to come yet . I’m a little confused about two things and would appreciate any help .. firstly it says in report my LVEDP is at 26 mmHg - can someone explain what that is and if it’s high or low ? If so what does that mean .

My second question is report says my NYHA function is II+ ok I get that’s the scale of where I am regarding symptoms etc but when I read the scale it says II classifies no symptoms at rest but I do have symptoms at rest if not sometimes more so although that could just be because I notice them more whilst resting but I do still get them . Also what does the + bit mean at the end.

Thankyou all in advance for replies and hope you all have a good day x

Not sure about the technical terms but one thing I have learnt through this process is to speak up if concerned 😊👍

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your first question. I've never heard of HYHA 11+ either, but could it mean that your symptons are slightly over 11 but not severe enough to be classed as 111? Do you have heart nurse you could ask?

It says stage II +

I know stage II means no symptoms at rest and I have read that but not sure what the + sign means and the fact I have symptoms at rest surely is higher also I’m confused with what the dilated part means sorry for all the questions I am going to my heart failure clinic but not until mid August .

The + may just mean your symptons fall between the 2 stages. Your symptoms may be slightly worse than what is considered to be class 11 but you do not have all the symptoms to be class 111. Maybe you could ask the BHF nurses here or contact the heart failure charity Pumping Marvellous for advice.

You should discuss it with your doctor and/or call the BHF Heart Helpline on 0300 330 3311 (office hours) and talk to a cardiac nurse about it.
